There are mainly three types of licenses you can get in the UAE. Those are mainland license, free zone license and offshore license. Today we will be discussing about mainland licenses in the UAE, how to obtain a mainland license and how you can setup a mainland company in Dubai, UAE.
In order to get a mainland license, you have to submit all documents and get approval from the Department of Economic Development (DED). The DED is the issuing authority of mainland license. You have to choose the company structure, i.e whether you want to own an LLC, sole proprietorship, joint company, etc.
You have to get into an agreement with the local sponsor which is a local service agreement. Under local sponsor, they take up 51% shares of your company and under the local service agent, you just have to pay a fee annually and they will help you with all government authority clearance, etc.
After making an agreement with the sponsor, now you can submit your initial approval certificate, passport visa copies of the shareholders, external approvals if any and other documents like tenancy contract, Ejari, etc to the DED and get your mainland license issued.
